On Tuesday, wind energy covers 33% of total national production, which led to a 20% drop in price, said Adrian Borotea, vice president of the Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA), in the conference “Investments – private funds, public funds, support schemes”, organized by Energynomics.
“Today (Tuesday – no.) wind energy covers 33% of total production, with over 2,700 MW out of the 3,000 available in wind power, and this has led to a 20% decrease in the price of electricity compared to yesterday. At the same time, national consumption is under the level of production, so Romania exports energy,” said Borotea.
He recalled that, through the National Integrated Energy Plan for Climate Change, Romania aims to double the capacity installed in wind turbines by 2030, according to Agerpres.
“Banks are more open and confident this year to finance renewable energy projects. By the end of the year, 2,000 to 3,000 MW of onshore wind capacity will be installed. This year, after many years of timid, local and random investment, we will see large new investments that will take us to the first steps towards 2030 to reach our targets,” added the RWEA representative.
According to him, it is important to sign long-term energy power purchase agreements (PPA).
“These contracts help everyone. We have a dramatic need for new investment, we have been importers for many years, we are happy when the wind blows, but otherwise we depend on imports,” Borotea said.
