Awaiting the new funding, European investors seem to have dropped orders of new wind turbines during the second quarter of 2021 (Q2).
In Q2 2021 Europe recorded 3.5 GW of wind turbine orders, marking a 26% decrease over Q1 2021 and a 39% decrease over the similar period (Q2) of 2020, says a new WindEurope report consulted by Energynomics.
Finland led with the most ordered capacity (1.3 GW), followed by Germany (0.7 GW) and Ukraine (0.4 GW).
Onshore orders were of 2.8 GW, marking a 5% decrease over Q1 2021. Wind investors saw 1.2 GW of orders for onshore wind turbines of 6 MW and above, taking the average onshore power rating to 5MW.
In the offshore segment, there were only two firm orders for the Arcadis Ost 1 and Baltic Eagle wind farm (732 in total MW) in Germany.
Vestas received 71% of the ordered capacity, followed by Nordex SE (23%), SGRE (4%), and GE (2%), the report says.
