The Government of Romania approved on Monday the Winter Program in the energy field, which aims to increase electricity consumption by 2.2% and foresees obligations to increase gas reserves by 10% and hydro reserves by 25%, announces the Ministry of Energy.
The winter program is addressed to all electricity producers and producers of electricity and heat in cogeneration and is applicable from November 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020.
The Program establishes the level of fuel stocks for the production of electricity that producers must provide until November 1, 2019, but also the required volume of water from the development lakes.
This year, the Ministry of Energy initiated the steps for the elaboration of the Winter Program from April, in order to be able to take into account all the aspects regarding the operation of the SEN, from the exit of the previous winter and until now.
For the winter period 2019-2020, an electricity consumption of almost 28 TWh is estimated, a production of 28.6 TWh of electricity and approx. 8.5 million Gcal thermal energy.
