The World Bank will help us with a set of materials on technical regulations regarding hydrogen, Zoltan Nagy-Bege, vice-president of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), said on Wednesday, during a debate.
“On the technical regulations side regarding hydrogen, we had a first meeting last week. We have advice from the World Bank and it seems that they will help us with a set of materials regarding the technical regulations regarding hydrogen. We are talking about grids, preparing gas grids for hydrogen injection and so on. On the licensing side, I think that the regulations regarding the issuance of licenses have already been modified since last year. From this point of view, I don’t think we have a problem, but it is definitely a much bigger challenge to have technical regulations to prepare us to use and produce hydrogen, to inject it into the networks. I am convinced that this collaboration with the World Bank, which is financing a consultancy on this subject, will help us very, very much,” Nagy-Bege said, according to Agerpres.
At the same time, the ANRE official expressed his conviction that progress will be seen this year.
“I am convinced that we will make progress this year. Once certain documents reach a stage where we can begin public debate, they will certainly be posted and absolutely all interested stakeholders will be invited to contribute to these regulations,” he said.
Last month, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, Constantin Ştefan, announced in a conference that the relevant ministry initiated the steps for the elaboration of the national strategy regarding the production of hydrogen energy, in the context in which Romania is facing an energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
