We continue the extensive presentation of the 2016 nominations for the energynomics Awards, with the Young Energy Professional section. Only one of the youngsters below will be awarded during the Gala from December 8th, but each and every one of them deserves our respect and an extended promotion.
Alina Constantin – ICN, AREN-YG
Alina Constantin is a chemical engineer in 2008, and since October 2015 she is Deputy Chairman of the Romanian Young Generation Network, which is part of AREN (the Romanian Nuclear Energy Association).
Alina Constantin stood out in 2016 by her scientific and organizational achievements which reflected hiers active involvement both nationally and internationally. Alina has contributed to increased visibility for RATEN ICN and promoted its specialists’ skills through participation in research projects, dissemination of scientific results they obtained and organizing scientific events with international participation.
Among the successful projects she carried out in 2016 there are:
- the research paper “Conceptual model for releasing C-14 of the geological storage of spent CANDU fuel”
- participation in European projects such as EAGLE, CAST and NSRAWD2
- publishing the article „International Approaches to Spent Fuel Management: Challenges and Opportunities”, in Universal Journal of Physics and Applications
- representing Romania at the World Nuclear University – Alumni Assembly, in April 2016, Beijing, China with presentation ALFRED – Steps Towards Implementation şi realizarea workshop-ului Leadership and communication
EElena Macsim, Elsaco Energy
A graduate of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest in 2014, Elena Macsim has benn working for over two years in Elsaco Energy, and in May she advanced to the position of Deputy Director Transactions.
Elena Macsim stood out in 2016 through her work for PRE’s development, the development of internal IT platforms for facilitating the daily notifications by balancing operators, and the settlement for PRE market participants. Elena Macsim realized daily transactions in spot markets (over 300 MWh), almost 21 million lei worth, in 2016, and 7000 MWh transactions in forward markets, monthly, with an aggregated value of 13.8 million lei.
Since September, Elena Macsim is attending the Energy Doctoral School in the The Faculty of Power Engineering, Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
Gabriel Pavel – UPB
Lecturer in the Faculty of Power Engineering of the Polytechnic University in Bucharest, Gabriel Pavel graduated from the Department of Nuclear Engineering in 2004 and has obtained the PhD diploma in 2009. He has published about 30 papers in various scientific and he is co-author of two technical books published nationally, as well as of an internationally published technical book.
In 2016, Paul Gabriel had worked for implementing three European projects (BRIDGE, ARCADIA and EAGLE) with impact at national and European level. EAGLE project is dedicated to improving communication to the public in the nuclear field. ARCADIA project brings together 20 entities across Europe, and is meant to establish a curriculum dedicated to the Generation IV reactor, which are to be built. BRIDGE project is the only one in the nuclear field which has received funding from the Erasmus+ program and it is dedicated to companies and employees who wish to change their field of activity for entering in the nuclear sector.
Ionuț Predoiu, Head Office Production, Topography, Geology, Oltenia Energy Complex
Ionuț Predoiu graduated from the University of Petroșani – Faculty of Mining, and from 2006 he has been working at Oltenia Energy Complex – Mining Division. In 2008 he obtained a master’s degree and in 2012 he had his PhD thesis at the same university.
He is author and coauthor of 35 articles published in national and international journals and coordinator for graduation and dissertation papers at the University of Petroșani. In addition to performing everyday tasks, scheduling and tracking production in the lignite pits exploited by Oltenia Energy Complex, Ionuț Predoiu has participated with papers in the 24th Global Mining Congress (Brasil), at the Conference “Days of Technical Sciences Academy of Romania”, and at the Romanian Mining Forum.
This year, Ionut Predoiu was chief partner in the filing of another European project after the 2015 success – obtaining funding through the European project BEWEXMIN. The proposal have been reviewed and the project will be financed for Monitoring the estimated and achieved hourly electricity consumption.
